In this popular World War II feature, John Wayne is John Stryker, a relentlessly tough Marine sergeant who trains a squad of naïve, rebellious recruits at a New Zealand military station.  Utilizing footage from real battles for authenticity, the film received considerable assistance from the United States Marines.
