André Rieu: Live in Brazil
Everyone knows the Samba is the National Dance of Brazil – but that changed in 2012 when André Rieu played his first ever concert series in Brazil’s hustling and bustling commercial capital of Sao Paulo. The time-honoured “Ginásio do Ibirapuera” which was established in 1957 and hosted the Women’s Basketball World Championships amongst other world class events got turned into a Viennese outpost for 30 nights straight for which must be the most successful premiere tour in Brazil by an artist ever.Close to 200,000 spectators witnessed the King of Waltz’s inaugural shows turning the place into a celebration of joie de vivre and – of course – the Waltz.Says André Rieu, “Yes, it’s a record. A sold-out concert thirty times in one city. We are really proud ofthat. So many memories of people waltzing, the laughter, the tears of the Brazilians. We will never forget all that.”And it’s one of Andre many talents that he always finds the right mix between classics and hidden gems of his genre like “Nessun Dorma”, his signature tune “The Beautiful Blue Danube” or “Ballad For Adeline” while tapping into the rich tradition of local repertoire. For “Live In Brazil” that ranges from “Manha de Carnaval” to the 2012 global smash “Ai Se Eu Te Pego” keeping the audience off their seats and dancing in the aisles for long stretches of the 90 minutes of the show.
André Rieu: Rieu Royale - Coronation Concert Live In Amsterdam
On April 30th 2013 millions of Dutch people dressed in their national colour ‘oranje’ gathered all around the Netherlands with Amsterdam being the capital of the celebrations. Of course the coronation of Willem Alexander and his wife Máxima was the occasion and a highlight of that unforgettable day was a very special concert that André Rieu, the undisputed King Of The Waltz, gave in honour of the royal couple and the Queen for 30 years, Beatrix. On the world renowned Museum Square in the heart of the city André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra entertained the audience for almost 100 minutes making the city waltz and swirl. The program features classics like “Time To Say Goodbye”, “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” and of course the title André wrote for the new King, the “Coronation Waltz”.
André & Friends: Live in Maastricht VII
A salute from the Maestro – André Rieu to release this year’s Maastricht summer show in OctoberReleased day and date with the highly anticipated double album “André Rieu Celebrates ABBA / Music Of The Night” the 2013 installment of André Rieu’s legendary concert series in his hometown of Maastricht is a real treat: guest from around the world like Jermaine Jackson, Trini Lopez or Argentinian tango virtuoso Carlos Buono are creating a truly colorful and international evening for the thousands of fans on the city’s historic square.Jermaine Jackson created a very special moment for the 12,000 strong audience when he performed Charlie Chaplin’s song “Smile” – just as he did at his brother Michael’s funeral service. During the encores his 1984 hit “When The Rain Begins To Fall” was performed but did not hold true for the weather. On that evening Maastricht experienced an almost subtropical evening – and a night to remember in many ways.
Under the Stars - Live In Maastricht V
Once again André Rieu transformed the Vrijthof square in his hometown Maastricht into a grand, romantic open-air concert hall with room for about ten thousand people for his traditional summer evening concerts.A colourful concert with over two-hours of beautiful melodies, Rieu's sopranos Mirusia Louwerse and Kimmy Skota, the Platin tenors and several guest artists in a romantic summer evening setting. One of the stunning spectacles of the night is soprano soloist Mirusia Louwerse performing Mary Poppins' “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and flying through the air, high above the wonder-struck audience. Oscar-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins and his wife flew in a private jet to Maastricht to attend the concerts. The Hollywood-based star is a great admirer of André Rieu and wrote a piece called “And The Waltz Goes On” specially with Rieu in mind. André Rieu recorded it earlier in 2011 and performed it in Maastricht for the first time for such a large crowd. “Under The Stars – Live In Maastricht V” contains 24 tracks and guest appearances by the South African Soweto Gospel Choir, The Harlem Gospel Choir, the St. Petersburg trio and local act 'Ziesjoem'.
