Hvor mye vil du gjennomgå for din brors frihet? I denne heseblesende actionthrilleren blir en gruppe venners lojalitet til hverandre satt på den ultimate prøven. Cal (Jai Courtney) er politimann og med i USAs marineinfanteris reserver sammen med en gruppe barndomsvenner. Når Cals yngre og uforsvarlige halvbror Oyster (Nat Wolf) ved et uhell, og i selvforsvar, dreper en person under et slagsmål, prøver Øyster å stikke av. Cal gjør sin plikt og pågriper lillebroren sin. Oppholdet i fengslet blir hardt for Oyster, og han må kjempe for tilværelsen samtidig som Cal og vennene blir utstasjonert i Irak. Når Cal og vennene kommer tilbake til USA, har opplevelsene i krigen endret deres verdenssyn, og marineinfanteriets motto "Semper Fi", som betyr "alltid trofast", har plutselig fått en helt annen betydning. Cal begynner å leke med tanken på å hjelpe broren å rømme fra fengselet...
