Winston Churchill: Walking With Destiny
This documentary focuses on Winston Churchill’s early opposition to Adolf Hitler and Nazism, and his support for Jews under threat by the Nazi regime. It also recounts his return to government by the demand of the British people and his ascension to the Prime Minister’s office in 1940. The war was won once the Americans and the Soviets entered the battle in 1941, but the film observes how, in 1940, it could have been lost if it was not for Churchill. The film examines why Winston Churchill’s legacy continues to be relevant in the 21st century, and explores why his leadership remains an inspiration to current day political leaders and diplomats.
The Prime Ministers: Soldiers and Peacemakers
In this documentary sequel adapted from Yehuda Avner's personal view of Israeli Prime Ministers and Israeli politics, he depicts when Yitzhak Rabin was elected as Israel's first natively born Prime Minister. The tension between Rabin and President Jimmy Carter and Rabin's resignation due to a financial scandal involving his wife, Leah, are discussed. When Menachem Begin was surprisingly elected in 1977, Avner continued his streak of working for Prime Ministers. Avner recounts how tense relations arose between Begin and President Reagan in 1982. His subsequent careers in the United Kingdom and Australia are also mentioned.
The Prime Ministers: The Pioneers
This documentary looks inside of the offices of Israel's Prime Ministers, through the eyes of an insider, Yehuda Avner, who served as a chief aide, English language notetaker, and speechwriter to Levi Eshkol, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin, Menachem Begin, and Shimon Peres. It focuses on the period between 1947 and 1973 when Ambassador Avner worked with the Prime Ministers Eshkol, Meir, and US Ambassador Rabin. Avner reveals new details about the Six Day War, the development of Israel's close strategic relationship with the United States, the fight against terrorism, the Yom Kippur War and its aftermath.
It Is No Dream
This film explores the life and accomplishments of Theodor Herzl, father of the modern state of Israel. Herzl, a well-known journalist and playwright, horrified by the Dreyfus trial in Paris and the anti-Semitism he saw spreading across Europe, took upon himself the task of attempting to create a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Over the span of 8 years, Herzl organized and led a worldwide political movement that within 50 years led to the establishment of the state of Israel. It is No Dream follows Herzl as he meets with Kings, Prime Ministers, Ambassadors, a Sultan, a Pope and government ministers in his quest to build a Jewish nation.
Genocide
With the rise of Hitler and the Nazi Party, more than 6 million Jews lost their lives. Arnold Schwartzman and the Simon Wiesenthal Center take a harrowing look at life during the Holocaust in this Academy Award winning documentary. Orson Welles and Elizabeth Taylor lend their voices to this heartbreaking historical account that draws from archival footage and primary sources to paint a chilling, realistic portrait of the political turmoil, violence, and resistance that defined the times.
Ever Again
Narrated and directed by Academy Award winners Kevin Costner and Richard Trank, the investigatory documentary Ever Again seeks to examine the nature of resurgent anti-semitic violence in the 21st Century, specifically in Western Europe. Trank's crew of researchers conduct interviews on city streets and with prominent scholars, activists, and politicians to uncover how anti-Semitic feelings have proliferated on both right and left ends of the political spectrum. Undercover recordings take a harrowing look at the re-emerging skinhead scene in Berlin. The project began in 2004, but the filmmakers returned to Europe immediately following the 2005 London Bombings. Ever Again takes a hard look at the anti-Semitic violence committed by Islamic extremists while spotlighting Muslim moderates who struggle within their communities to bring greater peace and understanding. Though the Holocaust may be decades behind us, the truths caught here on film reveal how philosophies of violence and hate have continued to manifest in personal attacks, Synagogue bombings, and vandalism. A documentary of our time, Ever Again examines anti-Semitic violence while opening a dialogue for real peace.
Unlikely Heroes
Unlikely Heroes chronicles untold stories of Jewish resistance and individual heroism during the Holocaust. Rare film and photos discovered in archives are utilized, and they're enhanced by newly filmed sequences in the same locations where many of these stories occurred. For most, the idea of Jewish resistance during the Holocaust is limited to the heroism of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising and a few isolated acts throughout World War II. Contrary to the view that Jews caught in the terror of Hitler's Europe were passive, this film exhibits previously unknown stories of extraordinary individuals who exemplified utmost courage and human dignity during the most desperate days of the Holocaust.
