Gora Pobeda“ is known as a very difficult to ascend mountain, not mainly because it's a steep rocky and icy peak but more because it is so far out of reach. The next village with road access UST NERA is more than 350km away. The next helicopter and hospital is 1300km away in Yakutsk. Beside that it is one of the coldest regions in the world. Usually the temperature drops down below minus 60C during the long arctic winter. Due to extreme continental climate short hot summers follow immediately the long winter cold. The time window for to ascend and descend the mountain due to that is very small. Since nobody ever did a project like that, it is not clear which time of the year it would be possible at all. Without Helicopter support it seems impossible to reach the mountain range or even the highest peak with all the equipment the small teamcarries with them for filming. In the Tracks of the First191773663797Austrian Freeride skiers and adventurers Matthias Haunholder and Matthias Mayr, both with several first descents all around the globe under their belt, are on a mission to ski some of the steepest walls in their home mountains, the alps. The Austrian Freeride skiers and adventurers Matthias Haunholder and Matthias Mayr, both with several first descents all around the globe under their belt, now embark on a mission to ski some of the steepest walls in their home mountains, The Alps. Years before both were even born, those walls were ridden by dauntless young mountaineers.

Da Hauni og Matthias så Chersky Range ovenfra for første gang virket det som en stor hvit labyrint, og det ble deres personlige mission impossible; å bestige og kjøre ski på den høyeste fjelltoppen i Øst-Sibir.

Unique and breathtaking, the kuril island “Onekotan” is part of the pacific fire ring, somewhere between Kamchatka and Hokkaido. The island is uninhabited, set in the middle of some of the stormiest and coldest seas in the world. It hosts a perfectly circled lake with a volcano at its center. An island within an island. In 2014, Matthias Haunholder and Matthias Mayr were so fascinated that they decided to go there for skiing, no matter what it would take to realize their dream. Over one year of planning, they increasingly understood why no one else would attempt such a feat. Finally in April 2015 they landed on the Island. Their goal was to ski, 18 days later, things changed. Survival and eventual escape became their main objective. But how? Boats did not want to pick them up due to stormy seas. Watch this very unique documentary about exploring new terrain, pure team spirit and the mentality of being adventurous.
