Bonzo
Somewhere deep in the New England woods, Danny lives alone in a cabin, mourning the death of his dog. He has no electricity or running water. He spends his days chopping firewood, farming and typing a mysterious manuscript. He is also gathering supplies at various hardware stores which may or may not be used to build a bomb. The word “Bonzo” literally translates to ‘Self-immolation, a ritualistic suicide practice, often used to refer to suicide by fire.’ The film is a haunting meditation on the loss of privacy, paranoia and desperation. Using contemplative cinematography, the film explores the relationship between a man, his land and the fire he knows he needs to start.
