Twenty miles South of the glitz and glimmer of the Las Vegas strip, lies one of the most inhospitable regions on the planet...the Mojave desert. This barren chunk of rock, sand, cactus and silt -sits right between the California and Nevada border. It can see temperatures in excess of 120 degrees, flash floods, and 40 mile per hour wind storms...all at the drop of a hat. It is a desolate, barren, wasteland. Since 1968 -this unforgiving and punishing landscape has served as the racecourse, for the most challenging off-road race in North America. And this year -350 race teams -in 24 classes of off-road vehicles -have shown up to battle each other, and mother nature, for fame, and glory. They must survive nearly 400 miles of bone-jarring desert...broken up into three 120-mile laps. The course it littered with giant whoops, deep ruts, and thick rock gardens. They must overcome searing heat, blinding sunlight, thick chalky silt and...the dark of night. And they must navigate through and around, hundreds of other competitors on the racecourse...This is the ultimate test of man and machine. This is the greatest off-road race in America...
