In July 1994 The Three Tenors, José Carreras, Plàcido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti with conductor Zubin Mehta, performed a concert at Los Angeles Dodger Stadium on the eve of soccer’s World Cup final. The worldwide audience was estimated at more than one billion viewers and even Los Angeles busy air traffic was persuaded to keep away from the stadium during the concert. ‘The Vision’ allows the chance to look behind the scenes and watch as the story of The Three Tenors in Concert 1994 unfolds. Finally, as World Cup fever and tenor-mania grip Los Angeles simultaneously, four of classical music’s most popular talents combine to perform ‘La donna è mobile’ from the concert that enthralled the world.

On the evening of July 7, 1990, an ‘impossible dream’ came true: the three greatest tenors of the day joined forces with an orchestra of 200 musicians against a backdrop of the majestic scenery of ancient Rome. In the famous Baths of Caracalla in Rome, on a brilliant starlit night with a full moon rising, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti, together with Maestro Zubin Mehta, presented an evening of arias, songs and medleys which was unique in musical history. For the 6,000 fortunate people who crowded into Caracalla that evening, it was an experience never to be forgotten. This recording is a document of that special performance, recorded live on the occasion, as a souvenir for music-lovers everywhere.
