Frozen Planet

9.0 IMDb2011 • Storbritannia

In noting that most of his TV work across 50 years has been about the world's tropics, Sir David Attenborough marvelled at the beauty he saw while making `Frozen Planet', which documents his travels to what BBC calls `the last great wilderness on the planet', the polar regions. Attenborough, 84 at the time, said he couldn't imagine why he left visiting such astonishing and beautiful places until so late in his life. The seven-part series takes viewers on a yearlong arctic expedition, tracking the lives of polar bears, wolves, killer whales and penguins from the spring through the winter, and concludes with Attenborough looking at how global warming is affecting not only the poles, but also the rest of the planet.
